Program Description

The Bachelor of Optometry(চক্ষু বিষয়ক) trains students, eye anatomy, optics, and ocular health. Over four years, students learn to perform eye exams, prescribe corrective lenses, and manage common eye conditions, combining theory with practical lab work. The additional “+1” year internship offers hands-on clinical experience in hospitals, clinics, or community eye centers. Graduates are prepared to work as professional optometrists, participate in vision screening programs, and pursue advanced studies or specialization in areas such as pediatric optometry, low vision, or contact lenses.

Facilities are:

Skilled Faculty members (Full time-80% & part-time-20%)
Year wise individual classroom
Multimedia projector-based classroom
Laboratory facilities: (Anatomy lab, Physiology Lab, Microbiology lab, Biochemistry lab, Optometry Lab, Computer lab)
1 year In-Course-Training’ in the recognized Government & Private Medical/Hospital or any other institute.
Modern rich library with online facilities
Separate Standard hostel facilities for girl’s and boy’s

Eligibility for Admission:
Candidates are eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Optometry(চক্ষু বিষয়ক) program under Rajshahi Medical University if they meet the following criteria:
● Have passed the SSC and HSC examinations in the Science group with Biology, either in the current year or within the past two years.

● Achieved a combined GPA of 7.00, with a minimum of GPA 3.00 in both SSC and HSC.

● Alternatively, candidates who have completed a recognized equivalent examination, either nationally or internationally, are also eligible.

Job sectors: Gov’t & Non Gov’t. Eye Hospitals, Independent clinics, or chain optical retail Optometric centers like fashion optics, Zeiss, Essilor, Lens & care and Titan Eye+ or LensKart.

Opportunity for higher study: After completing a BSc in Optometry, you can pursue higher degrees such as MSc and PhD.
